From The Age: Green groups in carbon plan rift

To celebrate the official ‘bumping-off’ of the Earth Hour polemic in this blog…

People may have noticed this article in the front page of The Age today:

A LEADING environment group has aligned itself with the coal industry to push the case for carbon storage technology, in a move that has split the green movement.

Hmm…. who might it be?

The World Wildlife Fund will join forces with the Australian Coal Association, the Climate Institute and the powerful miners’ union, the CFMEU, to call for a government taskforce, possibly situated within the Prime Minister’s Department, to oversee the introduction of the technology.

In other news … there will be a rally on June 15 (organized by the Wilderness Society I think) against the Tasmanian pulp mill. Exact details as of now are unknown but should the Eco-Committee march as a contingent in this rally? We’ll discuss this at tomorrow’s meeting, along with our main priorities the Eco-Day and Arbor week planning.
